Buddhist Caves and Statues

Ever since I was little, my family has made it a point to visit Buddhist sanctuaries whenever we traveled.  I didn't understand what I was doing at those places when I was younger.  I didn't know why I had to kneel or use incense, who I was praying to, what I am suppose to be thinking or feeling.   Now that I am older, I want to go back to those places, as well as new places, to really see and feel what was surrounding me.
Below are 2 places I'd like to visit.

Troglodyte sanctuary near Tam Coc. near Ninh Binh, Vietnam

Buddha statues left by pilgrims in Pak Ou caves. Laos
